The Cave de la Pierre was founded in 1974 by Jacques Clavien. It is in the district of Pierre in the east of Venthône, a medieval winemaking village situated at 800 metres in altitude, on the right bank of the Rhône between Sierre and Crans-Montana.
In early 2015, after some 40 vintages, Samuel took over the cellar, bringing with him his comprehensive training in oenology. His objective was to safeguard everything that had been achieved until that point, remaining faithful to the original spirit and purpose.
The cellar’s focus on quality above all else is underlined by its use of environmentally friendly “integrated production” throughout the vineyard. A great deal of time is devoted to ensuring the vegetation has proper airflow and access to sunlight. The use of phytosanitary products can be reduced as a result.
Thanks to a warm, dry climate and the autumnal foehn wind, yield can be closely controlled, guaranteeing wines that are robust and structured.
The 4.5-hectare family estate is home to eleven varied grape varieties, which are used to produce fifteen wines.
The wines are matured in neutral containers (enamelled and stainless-steel tanks) to preserve their delicacy, fruitiness and typical characteristics.
All our wines are offered in 75cl and 37.5cl bottles. Our red wines are also offered in elegant 150cl magnums.
We value the chance to meet our clients face-to-face and would be delighted to make an appointment to welcome you between Monday and Saturday.
